A special flight carrying hundreds of Indian students evacuated from conflict-ridden Iran arrived safely in New Delhi after transiting through Armenia, bringing relief to anxious families across the country.
The evacuation was coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in response to the deteriorating security situation in Iran due to ongoing conflict. With air travel directly from Iran becoming increasingly risky, the students were first moved to neighboring Armenia before being flown to India.
Officials confirmed that the operation involved meticulous planning and diplomatic coordination between India, Armenia, and Iranian authorities. On arrival, the students expressed gratitude to the Indian government for ensuring their safety amid the crisis.
“We were extremely worried, especially when explosions were heard near our campus. The swift response by the Indian embassy and MEA helped us reach home safely,” said a student from Tehran.
The Indian embassy in Tehran had issued several advisories in recent days, urging citizens to remain alert and prepare for evacuation as tensions escalated in the region. The move comes as part of India’s broader effort to safeguard its citizens abroad during emergencies.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal praised the cooperation of all stakeholders and reiterated India’s commitment to the safety of its nationals worldwide.
As the Middle East continues to face instability, India is closely monitoring the situation and remains prepared for further evacuation efforts if required.
